Boosey & HawkesProgram Note
Leonard Bernstein joked about his friend's practical nature, which extended to his music. Concerned about performance possibilities for the Symphony for Organ and Orchestra, Copland provided an alternate arrangement without organ. The First Symphony, in a three movement format, calls for large orchestra.
