In 1982, Bennett Lerner found a sketch among Copland’s manuscripts that was revised to become Midday Thoughts. It was dedicated to and premiered by Lerner.
- Proclamation (1973, rev. 1982)
Bennett Lerner helped revise and premiere what became known as Copland’s Proclamation in 1982. It was published with another piano solo, Midday Thoughts.
- Sonnet II (1919)
Sonnet II was written in 1919 for solo piano and dedicated to “A.V.” (Arne Vainio). Though never published, Bennett Lerner gave the premiere in 1985.
- Two Ballads (1957, completed. 1986)
Copland wrote Two Ballads for violin and piano in 1957, but the work wasn’t completed until 1986 when it was discovered by Philip Ramey and Bennett Lerner.
